What’s New
We are very excited to announce the opening of
our new High Conflict Parenting Program.
It is intended as an alternative to more standard parenting programs
with its attention to emotion management as a key component to
effective parenting.
This program is designed to assist parents at
risk of maltreatment. It teaches strategies to successfully parent,
address conflicts, handle strong emotions, and manage children’s
misbehavior while keeping an eye on safety. Sessions also assist
participants to identify high-risk situations and apply parenting
skills to a broad range of target behaviors. The program employs an
active skills training process to help parents acquire new knowledge
and skills. We provide opportunities for parents to learn through
didactic presentations, observation, discussion, practice, and
feedback. Between sessions parents complete homework tasks to
consolidate their learning from the group sessions.
Who is eligible?
Individuals at-risk for child abuse or
neglect, domestic violence, or who evidence anger management
problems, mental health issues, a history of victimization, or
substance abuse problems may be referred
to the program.
